LEF: First Annual Convention of the Home Based Women Workers Federation

The first convention of the Home Based Women Workers Federations (HBWWF) - organized jointly by the Homenet South Asia, Labour Education Foundation and Homenet Pakistan - took place on 11 April in Karachi.

The convention asked the Government to: (1) formulate a national policy for home-based workers (HBWs) and legislate to recognize them as workers so that they also benefited from various social welfare schemes; (2) Ratify the International Labour Organization's Convention n. 177; (3) Ensure a minimum monthly wages of Rs7,000 (56 euros).  Read more
