New ADB report: "The Social Protection Index. Assessing Results for Asia and the Pacific"
In June the Asian Development Bank published the report "The Social Protection Index: Assessing Results for Asia and the Pacific". The report states that despite the growth of Asian economies, countries are failing to spend enough on social protection programmes to fight poverty and inequality. Especially the countries in South East Asia are staying behind, with an average of only 2,6% of GDP spent on social protection.
