Uruguay | Instituto Cuesta Duarte: Toward a more equal distribution of wealth
In Uruguay, sensitive issues are currently being discussed that are of great relevance for the country’s workers. On the one hand the draft Bill on Accountability entered the parliamentary phase and on the other hand, a new Round of Wage Councils involving several hundred Uruguayan workers is initiating.
This means an important opportunity to negotiate a raise of the national minimum wage and to put in place better social protection systems. Global Network member Instituto Cuesta Duarte participates in and monitors the negotiations, defending as main goal a fairer distribution of wealth in Uruguay.
