Solidarity in action: the Ghana-Luxembourg social trust
A pilot project lead by SOLIDAR Luxembourg Member Solidarité Syndicale is implementing the ILO's Global Social Trust concept and promoting social security system solidarity.
Within the framework of the Ghana-Luxembourg Social Trust pilot project, 700 women with children under the age of five will receive a conditional regular financial subsidy of 30 Ghana Cedi, which will be provided by employees in Luxemburg through a monthly solidarity contribution.
This conditional social transfer should enable the women and their families to benefit from healthcare insurance and thus medical services which should reduce maternal and infant mortality as well as improve living conditions and opportunities for the women and their families.
In time of crisis, the Ghana-Luxembourg Social Trust pilot project contributes to raise awareness on North-South dependency and on the necessity of global solidarity.
