Decent work and the MDGs: keeping the promise

21 September 2010 the Global Network/ITUC/SOLIDAR event on ‘Decent Work & MDGs: keeping the promise’ took place in the Salvation Army Auditorium in New York (from 10-11.30).

The event, which includes speakers Jane Stewart (ILO), Sharan Burrow (ITUC), Tatiana Segovia Tobias (Brasilian Government), Mira Said (DWRC), Georgina Opoku Amankwah (ITUC – Africa Women’s Committee) and Yonnec Polet (PES), set out the case for incorporating decent work objective into all MDG-based policies, and for the upholding of aid commitments. Testimonies from the field illustrated how decent work and social protection strategies can be decisive in reversing and lifting people out of poverty.
